Martin Everall is delighted to be working with VLOG again after a few years absence. In full circle fashion, his first role with VLOG was the Lord Chancellor in Iolanthe! Other VLOG appearances include Major General Stanley in Pirates of Penzance, Mr. Hardcastle in Accommodating Kate (an original musical adaptation of She Stoops to Conquer), as well as concert versions of The Sorcerer (John Wellington Wells), Trial by Jury (Usher) and Princess Ida (King Gama). Perhaps most notably, he had the privilege of playing Scrooge in VLOG’s Scrooge and Gilbert and Sullivan version of A Christmas Carol, a role he re-created some years later with show creator Nathan Hull and his Amore Opera. He has performed numerous G&S roles with such companies as Blue Hill Troupe, Utopia Opera, Troupers Light Opera, Crystal Opera, and with Savoynet at the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in the UK. He will next appear with Blue Hill Troupe later this Spring in Pirates of Penzance and, most excitingly, as Sir Despard in Ruddigore with Savoynet again at this year’s UK G&S festival this August: he says excitingly as Ruddigore is the last of the 14 works of Gilbert and Sullivan in which he is appearing and he is thrilled to be completing the entire canon. Martin also regularly appears in original works with Making Light Productions, and was the founding Artistic Director of Lightning Strikes Theatre Company, an acclaimed off-off Broadway company in the ‘90s and ‘00s with which he worked on over 50 productions, both as actor and director, among many other production positions. For Lauren – everyone should have a no. 1 fan!
