Mary Kathryn Monday, mezzo-soprano, has been praised for her wide array of vocal colors and passion for characterization. She has an affinity for French music as well as American theater repertoire from Porter to Sondheim! In 2022, Mary Kathryn returned to VLOG in Hey Old Friends! Remembering Sondheim, and enjoyed an active year of performing which included a solo recital of songs about NYC, selections of Lisa DeSpain’s new operas That Hell-Bound Train and Staggerwing, and several performances with Opera on Tap.
Other past highlights include performing Berlioz's Les nuits d'été and scenes as Didon from Les Troyens at the National Opera Center, King Egeo in Handel's Teseo with Cantanti Project and Dorian Baroque as part of NY Opera Fest, and singing in the female ensemble in Stinney: An American Execution by Frances Pollock with the Prototype Festival.
Mary Kathryn moved to Manhattan upon her graduation from Furman University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and holds a certificate in French from New York University. Say hello at mkmonday.com!
