ANGELA SCORESE

Angela is thrilled to be making her VLOG debut! She was raised on a steady diet of Golden Age Musical Theater growing up and, though primarily an opera singer, has still kept one foot firmly planted in that genre playing the ingenue roles of Dorothy Brown in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Sarah Brown in Guys & Dolls, and Cinderella's Mother in Into the Woods with OnStage, Inc. in her high school and college years. She then helped inaugurate Columbia University's New Opera Workshop, singing the roles of Beatrice in Beatrice et Benedict, Mabel in Pirates of Penzance, and Marie in La Fille du Régiment in the student group's scene showcases as well as Mercury in their production of Eccles's The Judgement of Paris. In her later college years and continuing beyond, she found a love for the light operas of Gilbert & Sullivan and has been steadily making her way through the repertoire with such roles as Phyllis in Iolanthe, the title role in Princess Ida, and Yum-Yum in The Mikado with Ridgewood Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company, in addition to  Blush-of-Morning in The Rose of Persia with Utopia Opera, to whom she recently returned to play Salata in their April production of Utopia, Limited.  She recently helped break opera’s digital (and sound?) barrier as Queen of the Night in Spooky Goose Opera’s virtual Die Zauberflöte.
