ABOUT THE SHOW

Venice, 1921. The Duke’s villa is thrown into mystery and wonder when Death himself, weary of his eternal duty, decides to live as a man for one brief holiday. Taking the form of a Russian prince, he encounters the Duke’s daughter Grazia, whose near-death experience has awakened in her a hunger for life and passion. As Death tastes love and human desire for the first time, the villa’s residents are caught between fear, fascination, and longing. At once romantic, haunting, and deeply human, Maury Yeston’s Death Takes a Holiday is a lush and soaring musical meditation on life, love, and the unknowable.
