AUDITIONS

We are excited to announce auditions for the first show of our 2021/22 season 

The Three Rs

Songs of Revolution, Rebellion, and Resilience

Musical theatre has long served as a vehicle of revolution, rebellion, and resilience -- from the characters who revolt against the establishment and fight for a better life, to the ones who rebel against social norms, and to those who fight to overcome hardships with a resilient spirit. VLOG's exciting and inspiring new original revue THE THREE Rs: Songs of Revolution, Rebellion, and Resilience will explore and celebrate these profound moments, the characters who live them, and the stories they tell.

Audition day (all auditions are by appointment only; roles non-paid. There will not be callbacks)

When: Saturday October 16th, 1:00 – 5:00   

Where: Studios 353  353 48th (between 8th and 9th), 2nd floor, Studio 5 (elevator available)

Performance day

When: Saturday November 20th at 8:00 pm 

Where: Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Symphony Space - 2537 Broadway (at 95th)

AUDITION INFO:

​

We are seeking 10 -16 diverse and dynamic actors/singers. Every person in the cast will perform at least one solo number, and there will be 4 - 6 group numbers.

​

Please prepare 60 - 90 seconds of a musical theater song. You may choose something from the list of songs we're considering for the show, found at the bottom of this announcement. There will be an accompanist provided. 

​

Please note that THE THREE Rs will be performed acoustically (without microphones), and accompanied by a solo pianist. There is limited rehearsal time, and there will be limited blocking.

​

If you would prefer to do an audition via ZOOM, please sign up for an audition slot, and leave a comment indicating your preference. You will be sent a ZOOM link a few days before the audition date. 

​

NOTE: VLOG is a membership-based community theater company that charges a modest yearly membership. If you are cast, you will be required to pay dues. However, this should not be a barrier to auditioning. If you are facing hardship, let the audition monitor know. There are several options available. 

​

REHEARSALS:

Group rehearsals:

Twice a week from 7-10 for 3 weeks, starting the week of November 1st. The exact days for rehearsal have yet to be determined, but they will be as consistent as possible.

Solo and duet rehearsals:

Smaller rehearsals will begin the week of October 18th, and will be scheduled to accommodate the performer and music director. There will most likely be no more than one or two.

PERFORMANCE:

Saturday November 20th

Tentative Call: 1:00 pm dress rehearsal; Dinner Break: 5 – 6:30; Show Call: 7:00 for 8:00 curtain

The show will last approximately 90 minutes with no intermission

IMPORTANT:

VLOG and Symphony Space have vigorous COVID-19 protocols. All who wish to audition must be fully vaccinated. The following will be accepted as proof of full vaccination:

 - Vaccination card; OR

 - The Excelsior pass; OR

 - A photo of the vaccination card held on a phone or storage device; OR

 - Documentation of vaccination from a healthcare provider, electronic health record or

  state Immunization Information System record.
